Well it has now been a whole 5 months since I had surgery to remove 2.5kg of excess skin from around my tummy! I can’t believe how time has flown by and I am getting used to life with my new body. I almost forget what it was like to have the excess skin around my stomach because I bounced back so fast! Dr Begovic did the most amazing job; my after care was incredible (she called me daily to check in!), there was little bruising immediately after, and I got back into workouts with ease. I do need further surgeries to remove excess skin from my upper and lower back (this will fix the skin you can see around my sides) as well as upper and under arm, inner thighs and maybe one day even a breast lift! However I am incredibly happy with my extended abdominoplasty at this stage as it has changed my life and improved my overall quality of life.
Not only this but I have the tiniest, cleanest little scar across my lower abdomen that has healed beautifully. Because of my skin tone, it will take a little extra time to fade completely, however it has started fading already and I credit that to my aftercare. I initially used BioCorneum for 2 weeks post op which is a silicon treatment that essentially created a protective layer over my scar. However when this ran out, I switched to Rosehip Oil by Essano!
Rosehip oil has been a favourite of mine for a long time after the insight of its goodness was passed to me by my Mother. I was actually born with twisted and dislocated hips so had an operation on each hip to pop pins into them as an infant. My mother used to rub my scars with rosehip oil as I was healing to help them fade and regenerate the skin. Rosehip oil is great because not only does it help with fading your scars, but it is also 100% natural. No nasty man-made oils here!
I was introduced to Essano by my sister Lydia originally and I really love the Essano brand as its not tested on animals, certified organic as well as free from parabens, sulphates and much more! I also find Essano the most affordable of all of the brands and it’s readily available across both New Zealand and Australia; which to me is just as important as price! I use this rosehip oil massaged into my scar and also as a facial treatment at night or days where I’m not wearing makeup – it leaves my skin soft and hydrated and well, I think my scar results speak for themselves:
Pretty incredible, huh!?
Essano is available in both Countdown and New World in New Zealand and is available at Priceline, Woolworths and Coles in Australia. You can also buy online by checking out their website www.essano.co.nz. They have a whole skincare range enriched with Rosehip with something to suit everyone. As a company I absolutely love their values and am happy to support local to NZ and AU business, especially with such great quality for such an excellent price.

Hi Flora,
Can I ask where you got the biocorneum from in NZ?
Thanks,
Sarah
Hi Sarah, I got this when I was in USA – you could probably find it online! E
